Allied Health Aboriginal Cadetship – Commencing 2026

Albury Wodonga Health

Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student currently studying an Allied Health degree at university? Are you looking for a meaningful way to build your skills and gain real experience in a health service close to home?

Albury Wodonga Health (AWH), in partnership with the Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service (AWAHS), is proud to offer our Allied Health Aboriginal Cadetship, created to support your journey into a rewarding career in health.

About the Cadetship

As a cadet, you'll undertake 320 hours of paid work across the year. Working days and hours are arranged with flexibility so you can balance your university commitments while gaining valuable on-the-ground experience.

You'll be placed with one of AWH's allied health teams—such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, speech pathology, dietetics or other disciplines—depending on your area of study and available placements. The cadetship will also provide an opportunity to work with the allied health team at AWAHS.

Throughout your cadetship, you'll be supported by:

* A dedicated clinical supervisor who guides your practice
* A cultural mentor who understands the importance of connection, community and identity
* A peer network of other Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students and staff

This program offers more than paid work—it's a culturally safe pathway designed to grow your confidence, strengthen your skills and support your future career in allied health.
