For hybrid arrangements, the Port Hedland Allowance does not apply. The role will be offered on a 24‐month fixed‐term contract for WA‐based hybrid employees, and a 12‐month fixed‐term contract for hybrid employees residing outside WA.
The Role
Are you ready to take on a key role shaping the future of building certification in one of WA's most unique regions? The Town of Port Hedland is seeking a Coordinator Building Services to join our Regulatory Services team on a Full‐Time, permanent basis to lead the delivery of building certification, approval, and compliance services.
In This Role, You'll
Provide expert technical advice and mentor team members, ensuring best practice in building processes and compliance.
* Manage certification for basic, intermediate, and complex applications, applying discretion to meet performance criteria and alternate solutions under the National Construction Code;
* Assess and determine applications for Building Permits, Occupancy Permits, and Building Approval Certificates within delegated authority;
* Manage the Town's private swimming pool barrier inspection program;
* Investigate and resolve compliance issues using innovative problem‐solving approaches;
* Develop and review processes to keep pace with legislative requirements and industry reforms;
* Represent the Town in building reform discussions and, when required, prepare legal briefs and appear at tribunals or court.

Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre‐employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
* National Police Clearance;
* Current 'C' class drivers license;
* Rights to work in Australia;
* Tertiary qualifications suitable to undertake building certifications or a combination of qualifications and experience suitable for registration by the Building Services Board;
* Registration as Building Surveyor for Class 1 and 10 structures in Western Australia.
