We are looking for a Workshop Estimator to join our Tomago Hydraulics Workshop on an 18‐month fixed‐term contract. This role supports workshop operations by compiling accurate repair estimates, maintaining estimating data and coordinating internal workflows to support hydraulic rebuild activity across the Caterpillar fleet.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys structured, detail‐driven work, is comfortable working with systems and documentation, and likes being close to the workshop without the pressure of tendering, site travel or commercial negotiations.

You will work closely with Hydraulic Fitters, Supervisors and internal stakeholders to translate inspection reports and scopes of work into clear, accurate estimates that enable efficient planning and execution.

Key responsibilities

* Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for hydraulic component repairs and overhauls
* Review scopes of work, inspection reports and technical documentation
* Liaise with Workshop Supervisors and trades to clarify job requirements
* Ensure estimates align with labour allowances, pricing structures and parts availability
* Maintain accurate records in ERP and estimating systems
* Support continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and turnaround times

Skills and Experience

* Experience in a workshop or estimating role, including exposure to planning, service and/or parts.
* Strong attention to detail with confidence working with numbers and data
* Comfortable using ERP systems and computer ‐ based workflows
* Well‐organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
* Clear communicator who can work effectively with trades and internal stakeholders
* Mechanical aptitude or exposure to heavy equipment or hydraulics (highly regarded, not essential)
