Clinical Safety Officer - Clinical Excellence

Telstra Health is seeking a Clinical Safety Officer to join the Clinical Excellence team. This fixed-term opportunity is for 6 months.

About the role

The Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) has a critical role in ensuring the clinical usability and safe delivery of Telstra Health products and services. The CSO will contribute to delivering our strategic activities within the Clinical Excellence team.

* Assessment and mitigation of clinical risk: Identify clinical risk in new development or release, practice or policy for Telstra Health products and services. Use a systematic approach to gather requirements and analyse digital health solutions to ensure clinical specifications are tested through to production. Request a simulation demonstration from the engineering team to identify potential safety issues and assess performance. Conduct thorough clinical safety activities to identify potential clinical risk and develop mitigation strategies across the digital health lifecycle, including assessments of tenders from potential customers. Identify and communicate trends and gaps in quality and safety data to key stakeholders. Provide SME input to address day-to-day issues relating to clinical safety and risk management.
* Monitoring/evaluating clinical issues and performance: Establish a robust reporting system to identify potential clinical issues associated with Telstra Health solutions, monitor clinical performance, and provide regular safety and effectiveness reports. Responsible for clinical triage of Jira tickets, investigation of incidents, and contributing to Post Incident Reviews.
* Providing clinical training and education: Provide training to clinical and non-clinical employees on clinical safety in digital health solutions. Facilitate and support education of stakeholders in clinical safety, quality improvement, assurance and risk management as required.
* Ensuring compliance: Ensure Telstra Health digital health solutions comply with relevant regulatory requirements and standards within the relevant jurisdiction, domestic and/or international. Contribute to reporting to the Telstra Health Clinical Governance Committee.
About you
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant clinical discipline (e.g., allied health, pharmacy or nursing)
* Current or recent registration with AHPRA or an equivalent body
* Around 5 years of relevant experience
* Recency of clinical practice
* Strong knowledge of regulations and standards
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary technology team
* One or more of the following: a) Bachelor degree in digital health or b) digital health qualification from a recognised professional organisation (e.g., Fellow/Associate Fellow/CHIA of AIDH) or c) experience with digital health solutions in a primary care setting (advantage)
