We are partnering with a critical Federal Government department to onboard an experienced Senior Desktop Engineer (SOE) to deliver a high-assurance desktop environment, supporting sensitive operational capability, being transitioned to a modern standard.
This role sits within Infrastructure Engineering and is responsible for implementing, managing and maintaining desktop infrastructure that supports critical digital services across secure environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Build, install, configure, test and maintain the SOE (Standard Operating Environment)
* Deploy SOE solutions to desktop devices using automation to standardise environments
* Troubleshoot desktop and SOE-related technical issues and perform ongoing maintenance and updates
* Provide technical support to end users on desktop-related matters
* Deliver knowledge and skills transfer
* Maintain accurate documentation
Essential Skills:
* Linux desktop operating systems, particularly Debian-based distributions (e.g. Ubuntu)
* Configuring and supporting a hardened desktop SOE
* SOE deployment automation and remote device management
* Work Onsite in Canberra 4 days per week
Essential Requirements
* Formal ICT qualifications from a recognised tertiary institution or equivalent demonstrated experience
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
* Self-motivated, proactive and able to work with initiative
* Ability to obtain or hold an NV1 security clearance
