The Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) People and Culture branch is seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources (HR) professional to fill the role of Assistant Director, People Services for the period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension. As a member of the People and Culture Branch, the Assistant Director People Services is responsible for leading a team in the delivery of people services, recruitment functions, payroll functions, casual workforce administration and general human resources support across CIT. Reporting to the Senior Director, People Services and Workforce Solutions, the Assistant Director People Services’ key duties include the ongoing development and implementation of a tiered service delivery model, analysis of data, support with strategic recruitment, management of payroll functions and reporting, management of the casual educator workforce administration, and the delivery and management of various information sessions and projects. To thrive in the role, you will have demonstrated experience working in a contemporary human resources environment. You will possess strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to produce quality workforce outcomes under pressure, managing highly sensitive and complex issues with sound judgement. You will excel in this position if you are resilient and adaptable to changing circumstances while managing multiple priorities. Eligibility/Other requirements: Experience in ACT Public Service or Australian Public Service and or Education sector is highly desirable. Experience in operational and strategic HR service delivery and HR project management or a similar role is essential. Qualifications or experience in HR management or a similar field will be highly regarded. Notes: This is a temporary position available from 02 March 2026 to 01 March 2027 with the possibility of extension. A merit pool will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill similar vacancies over the next 12 months.
