We are seeking an experienced and values‐driven Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a diverse portfolio of commercial and community-focused enterprises. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence long‐term economic empowerment, community wellbeing, and organisational sustainability while working closely with Indigenous communities.
The CEO will provide strategic, operational, and cultural leadership across both commercial and not‐for‐profit entities, ensuring strong governance, financial performance, and meaningful community benefit.
About the Role
The CEO is responsible for delivering sustainable growth, ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards, and fostering long‐term opportunities for local Indigenous people. The role requires a leader who brings strong business acumen, cultural sensitivity, and a genuine commitment to community empowerment.
The CEO will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, community members, government agencies, and key partners to drive operational excellence and uphold the organisation's values.
Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership & Community Vision
Drive the development and implementation of a long-term strategic vision.
Balance commercial performance with community benefit and cultural values.
Promote innovation, enterprise, and job creation through diversified activities.
2. Governance & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all governance, legal, regulatory, and ISO requirements (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
Provide transparent reporting, strategic advice, and risk oversight to the Board.
Build a culture of ethical conduct, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee day‐to‐day operations to ensure efficiency, safety, and profitability.
Lead financial planning, budgeting, and performance reporting across multiple entities.
Maintain high standards of service delivery, quality systems, and compliance.
4. Stakeholder & Community Engagement
Build strong, respectful relationships with Traditional Owners, community members, government, and funding bodies.
Represent and advocate for the organisation at regional and state levels.
Support community-led development initiatives and meaningful participation.
5. People & Culture
Lead and develop a culturally safe, inclusive, and high‐performing team.
Champion Indigenous employment, training, and leadership opportunities.
Foster a positive organisational culture based on respect, collaboration, and shared success.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience as a CEO or senior executive, preferably in regional/remote contexts or within Indigenous organisations.
Strong financial management capability with experience overseeing complex or multi‐entity operations.
Understanding of ISO management systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
Demonstrated expertise in governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across cultures and with diverse stakeholders.
Experience in community development, social enterprise, or not‐for‐profit leadership.
Knowledge of the Kimberley region and Indigenous cultural contexts.
Experience in sectors such as tourism, labour hire, traffic management, or community services.
