RUSWIN is a leading Regional Queensland provider of fully integrated Electronic Security Systems and Locksmith Services. We have a proud history of delivering excellent customer service for more than 50 years. We are inviting all applicants who are looking for an apprenticeship in 2025 to join our team of Locksmiths in Rockhampton.

About the Job:

The highly respected Locksmith trade will take you through skill development in all aspects of Locksmithing including key cutting and stamping, access control and alarms, automotive, safes, service and installation, and master keying. This four-year apprenticeship combines on the job work experience with block release training at TAFE Queensland. Over time, this job requires a commitment from you to develop your product knowledge and hone your communication skills to better serve your customer. Flexibility to work additional hours is required - this vocation requires out of hours work occasionally. You will experience a wide variety of job locations with some travel required occasionally. Award wages apply; and those wishing to undertake an adult apprenticeship who can meet the criteria are also encouraged to apply.

Honest, reliable and trustworthy with a strong work ethic

Mechanically minded with a desire to work with your hands

Current drivers licence or working to achieve this

Customer service skills or experience

Strong desire to commit to ongoing learning opportunities

Well presented with positive manner

Ability to work as part of a team

Strong literacy and numeracy skills

Suitable applicants should also be prepared to:

Undertake a National Police Check

Complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

Obtain a Security Provider Licence

Obtain a Blue Card – Working with Children Check

The mid 1990s saw the opening of Ruswin PNG and Mount Isa operations while Ruswin Indonesia opened its doors in the late 90s and Rockhampton a couple of years later. Recognition that locksmithing was more of a trade than a craft led to the business taking on apprentices who, after completing a four year mechanical engineer's course, were awarded industry recognized Trade Certificates. Ruswin have successfully trained over 100 apprentices, many of whom have attained the top level qualification of master locksmith.

The Ruswin Group currently employs around 150 people. During 2011 Nikki Bornis, was awarded the Australia and New Zealand Apprentice of the Year award. She was also voted the 2012 Australian Locksmith of the Year and these days leads Ruswin's locksmith training division. Just recently, Ruswin again was recognised for its outstanding commitment to training when Luke Bergin was awarded the prestigious 2015 Australian Locksmith of the Year award.
