What we're looking for
We're seeking a part-time CSSD Technician to join our perioperative team. This role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality care by ensuring sterile equipment and supplies are available for surgical procedures. You'll work under the supervision of the Team Leader and Registered Nurse, performing duties within your scope of practice and level of competence.
What you'll be doing
* Decontaminate and clean specialised and general instruments and equipment in line with AS/NZS 4187 infection control guidelines
* Operate sterilising and disinfecting equipment within CSSD
* Maintain and monitor stock levels of sterile and non-sterile items
* Assist with materials management and ordering processes
* Communicate effectively with operating theatres and recovery teams
* Enter sterilisation data accurately into relevant systems
* Report damaged instruments and assist with repairs
* Participate in quality improvement activities within CSSD
About you
* Previous CSSD experience (desirable)
* Sound knowledge of sterilisation principles (desirable)
* Certificate III in Sterilisation Technology (desirable)
* Ability to maintain cleanliness of equipment and environment according to infection control standards
* Understanding of WH&S legislation and codes of practice
* Current vaccination record
* Enthusiastic, motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team
* Effective interpersonal skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise workflow
* Attention to detail
* Ability to cope in a fast-paced environment
