The Education Directorate has a short-term vacancy commencing 12 May 2025 until 14 November 2025 with the possibility of extension to fill the position of Executive Branch Manager/Chief Finance Officer, Strategic Finance and Procurement. The Chief Finance Officer (CFO) reports to the Executive Group Manager, Finance and Infrastructure Group, and is a member of the Directorate’s executive team. The CFO provides the Director-General and Senior Executive Team with strategic advice across the full range of financial and procurement functions. The CFO is responsible for providing strategic financial and policy advice; managing the financial and procurement activities of the Directorate; and working with senior colleagues to ensure planning and budgeting activities meet corporate goals, key legislative and business obligations and improve business productivity. In particular, the CFO is accountable and responsible for: Devising and making recommendations in relation to financial policy approaches and strategies for the organisation. Establishing and directing the organisation’s financial activities, including budgets, internal reporting and contract management. Providing accurate, timely and strategic financial information and interpretation to the Senior Executive Team. Coordinating the development, implementation and monitoring of financial accounting processes and related systems. Providing training, advice and support to ACT public schools to develop financial and business acumen for school leaders. The position requires specialist qualifications including a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting and full membership of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants, or equivalent. Remuneration: The position attracts a remuneration package ranging from $281,899 - $293,175 depending on current superannuation arrangements of the successful applicant.
