The Rockhampton Grammar School is seeking to appoint an Operations Manager accountable for the Property, IT, and Services (cleaning, catering and transport) functions, and the provision of other ancillary services from time to time. The position will be responsible for identified project work including policy updates, policy compliance, and integration of generative artificial intelligence.
The Rockhampton Grammar School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, educating and caring for students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years. The School is the largest independent boarding school in Queensland and the second largest co-educational boarding school in Australia. POSITION TITLE: Operations Manager
DEPARTMENT: Administration
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time | Fixed Term 1 year contract
REPORTS TO: Secretary to the Board of Trustees and Business Manager
The Operations Manager will:
* Work closely with the Finance Manager and Human Resources and Compliance Manager and collectively execute senior management responsibility for the business and operations functions of the School.
* Provide leadership and supervision of the IT, Facilities and Services departments and their staff.
* Work closely with relevant staff in order to effectively update and implement policies, conduct policy compliance reviews, and lead the effective integration of generative artificial intelligence in non-teaching functions.
Key Responsibilities include, though are not limited to:
* Exercise control of the property management of the School (via the Facilities Manager).
* Exercise control of the Catering, Transport and Cleaning functions of the School (via the Services Manager).
* Be accountable for the direction and development of the School's business computer systems (via the IT Manager in consultation with the Finance Manager, Human Resources and Compliance Manager).
* Be jointly responsible with the Headmaster and Board Secretary for the direction and development of the School's academic IT system (via the IT Manager).
* Be accountable for the recruitment of the Facilities Manager, Services Manager, and IT Manager and exercise control of recruitment in their areas of responsibility (via these managers).
* Identify training and development needs in their areas of responsibility and formulate plans to meet these needs (via Supervisors).
* Liaise with the Board Secretary and Business Manager on any matter which may affect the smooth operation of the academic function of the School.
* Work closely with the Finance Manager to co-ordinate the financial, educational and architectural information for the preparation of recurrent government funding returns and capital grants submissions.
* Attend to review and update of policies as directed.
