The School of Biomedical Sciences teaches 14 undergraduate programs at the University of Queensland. We are looking for a Casual Academic to support teaching in anatomy, physiology, or pharmacology. Casual Academics are demonstrators who play a vital role in teaching and learning.
Demonstrators assist teaching staff in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology courses. High‑achieving undergraduate students, postgraduate coursework and research higher‑degree students are invited to apply. Applications are also welcomed from non‑students who possess appropriate qualifications.
Selection is on a combination of merit and School needs. Those appointed previously will only be re‑appointed if prior performance has been exemplary.
Applicants should indicate their academic background, teaching experience and course preferences. This information will be used to match demonstrators to course requirements. Selections are made in consultation with Course Coordinators.
Applicants should possess the requisite knowledge for the course or the ability to acquire such knowledge through independent learning. All appointed demonstrators should familiarise themselves with the lecture and practical material for their course before the commencement of classes.
These are casual academic appointments. As such, there is no firm advance commitment to ongoing or indefinite work. The casual rate will vary depending on the type of work completed. To discuss the role please contact the School via email.
