The COMCAR and Programs Branch is responsible for delivering high quality, secure and confidential car-with-driver and other ground transport services to high profile clients, such as the Governor-General and Prime Minister (both current and former), parliamentarians, members of the Federal Judiciary and other high office holders. Additionally, the Branch provides secretariat support to the Australian Political Exchange Council and administers two grant programs.
COMCAR provides ground transport and associated support services to visiting Guests of Government such as Royalty, Heads of State, Heads of Government and other foreign dignitaries. COMCAR frequently delivers services during major international events, such as the ASEAN Special Summit, Group of Twenty meetings (G20), the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and other Ministerial forums hosted in Australia. COMCAR has a national presence, with drivers located in each state and territory.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The Visits and Events Transport Manager is responsible for coordinating ground transport for visiting international dignitaries and major international events.
The Visits and Events Transport Manager is required to:
Coordinate and manage transport arrangements for Guest of Government visits and other international-scale events, including on-the-ground support in the delivery of services during major national visits and events
Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Australian Federal Police, diplomatic officials, visiting dignitaries and other Australian government officials
Represent the Department and undertake complex liaison and negotiation
Undertake financial management and record-keeping activities including the processing of financial payments and invoicing.
Prepare internal and external correspondence; draft agenda papers, briefings and senate estimate papers as required
This role involves extensive travel as well as regular after-hours commitments and applicants must be able to travel domestically to meet the requirements of the position. Flex and overtime are payable for additional duties outside of regular hours of work, in line with the department's enterprise agreement.
