The Opportunity
The Engagement Assistant Director is a key leadership position within the Branch Leadership Team. They have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities. The role involves managing people, programs, and stakeholder relationships. They oversee employee performance and foster key internal and external stakeholder networks. Working with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction from the Director, they plan and deliver aspects of the branch work program, report on performance, and ensure performance measures are met. They contribute to strategic planning, develop business cases, and lead new initiatives. Responsibilities include customer service, policy development, project management, community engagement, and fostering a positive workplace culture. The role promotes a healthy and safe work environment and models ethical behavior in line with the APS Code of Conduct and Values.
The role includes responsibilities such as:
* Leading and managing staff and stakeholder relationships
* Planning and delivering branch programs
* Reporting on performance metrics
* Contributing to strategic and operational planning
* Developing business cases and project plans
* Providing expertise across various activities including customer service, policy, projects, and community engagement

Position Involvement
This is an identified position involving significant engagement with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and service providers. A high level of cultural competency is required.
