Wulguru Technical Services is currently seeking an experienced Principal Environmental Advisor in our Approvals & Compliance team based in our Townsville office.
Wulguru Technical Services Pty Ltd (WTS) is an environmental and spatial science consulting firm providing professional and technical services, largely to the mining sector in Queensland. At WTS, we are involved with our clients in a variety of ways such as project management, environmental impact assessments, approvals, compliance, and environmental management services. These services are supported by strong spatial science and GIS applications such as 3D terrain analysis, remote sensing and high resolution satellite imagery.
About the role:
The Principal Environmental Advisor role is a fulltime (38 hours/week) position based in Townsville.
You will be part of a busy team providing environmental consultancy services to a variety of clients across Queensland. You will provide support and leadership by way of organisational, logistical, and administrative direction to the Approvals & Compliance team and the professional and efficient delivery of services to internal and external clients.
The duties associated with position will involve contributing to, and leading the delivery of Approvals & Compliance components for projects, largely servicing mining sector including:
* Conduct approvals and compliance activities and be the knowledge expert in environmental approvals and compliance related activities
* Preparation of research, analysis, impact assessments, approvals, and technical reports
* Manage projects from initial scope and client liaison, through to commercial delivery
* Supervise and mentor the staff of the Approvals and Compliance team across a broad range of related projects
* Assist with preparation, review, and submission of proposals
* Provide technical leadership, coordination and mentoring of environmental advisors.

About you:
* Professional qualification in Environmental Science, Planning or other relevant degree preferred.
* Minimum 10 years’ experience working as an environmental professional.
* Previous experience leading a team.
* Queensland approvals understanding.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse and interpret situations and problems, and develop appropriate solutions.
* Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary project team.
* Mining experience would be advantageous.
* Australian driver license (manual license advantage).
* Australian Citizenship or rights to work in Australia.
