Cultural Liaison Specialist
As a cultural liaison specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that child protection practices are culturally sensitive and appropriate to the needs of Indigenous families.
* Providing a cultural perspective for child protection while engaging with Aboriginal families respectfully and professionally.
* Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement culturally responsive strategies for working with Indigenous children and families.
* Building relationships with community members and organizations to promote cross-cultural understanding and awareness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Offering guidance and support to child protection workers and other stakeholders on cultural competence and awareness.
2. Designing and delivering training programs on cultural sensitivity and awareness for staff and community members.
3. Collaborating with local health services and community organizations to develop and implement culturally responsive service delivery models.
Requirements:
* Relevant qualifications or experience in social work, community development, or a related field.
* Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures and histories.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience working with Aboriginal communities and families.
* A deep understanding of the Victorian Child Protection Act 1999 and its implications for practice.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
