Overview
Launceston General Hospital invites applications for a Consultant Urological Surgeon to join our energetic and expanding team. Serving a population of approximately 300,000, our unit provides a comprehensive Level 6 Urology service across North and North-West Tasmania, along with statewide sub-specialist services.
To support excellent patient care we have a team of four experienced urologists, supported by registrars, a SET trainee and a clinical nurse specialist. Our department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a da Vinci XI dual-console robotic platform.
Responsibilities
* Clinical Activities
o Operate in the Main Theatre Suite at LGH.
o Operate in the Day Procedure Unit at LGH & MCH.
o See patients in the Outpatient Clinic at LGH & MCH.
o Attend Weekly Grand Rounds.
o Provide consultative service for other specialty units.
o Supervise the clinical work of junior medical staff.
* Quality Assurance Activities
o Participate in Unit and Departmental Management Meetings.
o Participate in continuing education meetings.
o Teach clinical staff (Doctors and Nurses).
o Ensure accurate clinical records are maintained for each patient.
o Oversee the quality of care provided by junior medical staff.
o Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation's Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including the development and implementation of safety systems and improvement initiatives.
* Teaching & Research
o Provide undergraduate teaching, including tutorials for students of the Tasmanian Medical School.
o Teach junior medical staff.
o Participate in clinical reviews and research activities at LGH.
o Research is encouraged with funds available through the Clifford Craig Foundation.
* Additional Duties
o Respond to call backs.
