About the opportunity
* The role of the Patient Safety Officer is to provide expertise and leadership aimed at ensuring an organisational culture where minimising preventable patient harm is a strong core value.
* This position works collaboratively with statewide entities, senior executive members, managers, clinical leaders, multi‐disciplinary team members, external stakeholders, clinicians, patients and consumers, demonstrating a commitment to improving patient outcomes and minimising preventable patient harm.
* This position leads investigations into clinical incidents as defined by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC).
* This position provides multidisciplinary leadership, guidance, support and clinical expertise in oversight of patient safety and clinical incident management processes across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS).

Competitive salary and benefits
* Salary range: $5,364.30 – $5,824.20 per fortnight (NG7)
* 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

Requirements
* Mandatory: Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent qualification.
* Highly Desirable: Relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field.
