Energy Underwriter Role Summary
This is a highly technical and specialized field of insurance where you will have accountability in managing and growing a portfolio of carefully selected risks within Australia's most critical industries.
The role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a collaborative team environment based in either Sydney or Melbourne. You will be responsible for risk analysis and underwriting of energy & engineering risks renewing and new business accounts, as well as utilizing and mastering the use of various underwriting tools for CAT modelling, technical pricing, risk engineering, etc.
You will also interface with various internal stakeholders and management within the underwriting process, manage broker expectations and issue required documents in a timely and professional manner, and manage reinsurance for individual accounts where necessary.
Additionally, you will be responsible for timely reporting of post-bind production and account records, assist the administration team with accounting and processing activities, build and strengthen external relationships with broker partners and clients, represent AIG at industry events, contribute to the branch and department financial goals, and assist when required branch, national and regional management with projects.
The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to develop broad Mining, Power and/or Renewables underwriting capabilities of large corporate international insurance, preferably with a degree holder in Engineering, economics, law or other appropriate discipline.
You should also have the ability to develop relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and well established within the Australasian market, client-focused with excellent relationship management, customer service, interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills.
Candidates should also be able to leverage data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective, handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines, motivated and able to motivate others to achieve common goals, results-oriented, and possess excellent organizational and communication skills to manage workflow for both new business and renewals.
