John Curtin College of the Arts (JCCA) is a leader in public education. Our college caters for 1800 students from Years 7 to 12. Our programs reflect our belief that all students are individual and come with different learning needs. We offer learning experiences that motivate and extend students academically through our Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Arts Programs in Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Music, Music Theatre and Visual Arts, as well as a school-based Academic Excellence Program and our Specialist Football Program is well renowned.
We use the Arts as a vehicle for student engagement and motivation. The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.

The Role
JCCA is seeking to appoint a motivated and innovative Head of Learning (HOLA) - Drama to join their supportive leadership team.
The HOLA - Drama provides high quality leadership to staff within the Arts learning area. As the successful applicant you should be an exemplary classroom practitioner who can lead teaching and learning. You should possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements for Years 7 to 12.
We are seeking an exceptional leader to spearhead a dynamic team dedicated to embedding curriculum and performance requirements to the highest standards. The successul applicant should possess a proven track record of driving excellence in educational settings and should have the ability to inspire and motivate a team to cater for and meet the needs of Gifted and Talented Arts Students. The successul applicant should be a strategic thinker who can seamlessly integrate innovative curriculum designs with rigorous performance requirements. The leader will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment, promoting continuous improvement and maintaining a focus on achieving high-calibre outcomes for staff and students.
The successful applicant will ideally have high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the college community. The ability to work positively and effectively in teams and be open to new thinking is highly desirable.
As an expert drama practitioner, you should have a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in ongoing self-reflection. The ability to authentically evaluate the effectiveness of arts learning and teaching practice. Another key attribute is the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
