About The Opportunity
The Inpatient Social Work Team for the Mental Health Service in SWSLHD is interested in recruiting for a Senior Social Worker who is passionate about working in the inpatient mental health setting. We are looking for a senior social worker who is hardworking and consumer focused in assisting consumers during their treatment in hospital and linking them with various supports post-discharge from hospital. The Senior Social Worker will be responsible for providing high quality psychosocial assessments and intervention to our consumers who are addressing their mental health in hospital and also working with their families/ carers.
The Senior Social Worker will need to possess knowledge and skills to work alongside other social work colleagues and the rest of multidisciplinary team including taking on extra duties such as providing clinical supervision and participating in quality improvement projects.
The Senior Social Work position is part of a larger social work team working in the inpatient mental health units across Liverpool, Campbelltown and Bankstown Hospital.
We are open to job share for those candidates wanting part-time as long it meets the demand of the service delivery. There is also a wide range of professional and learning opportunities within this role along with the support of the dynamic and well established inpatient mental health social work team across SWSLHD who aspires to provide the highest standard of social work service to the consumers in the various inpatient mental health units.
What You'll Be Doing
This position is responsible for providing specialist Social Work service to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position will also participate in professional development, clinical supervision, teaching, quality activities and other relevant departmental and administrative duties.

SWSLHD Community Mental Health Services provide comprehensive, community-based mental health care across South Western Sydney.
These services cater to different age groups, including children, adolescents, adults, and older persons, ensuring specialised care throughout various life stages. The multidisciplinary teams offer a range of supports, including mental health assessments, crisis intervention, care coordination, and therapy. They work closely with inpatient services, GPs, and other community organisations to provide holistic care.

* A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Extensive post graduate experience working as a Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting, complex health conditions and the impact on wellbeing.
* Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging and demanding workload; managing stressful situations; and applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel or critical nature
* Experience working independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal), and demonstrated computer skills.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision and expert advice/consultation to the social work service and the clinical specialty.
* Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementing, leading and evaluating of quality improvement activities involving the application of evidenced based practice within social work
