AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to new product releases that set AWS apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Our Region Services team
Redefines how AWS designs, builds, and operates AWS regions to enable new AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Services offerings across various industries and organization sizes, including start-ups, enterprises, and public sector entities. We are seeking experienced Systems Development Engineers with a strong background in automation and operations.
Must hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (https://www1.defence.gov.au/security/clearances).
Key job responsibilities
Support the refinement of system requirements, and participate in developing operability-related features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, repair, and automation.
Develop or improve application and system management tools and processes to reduce manual efforts and increase efficiency.
Adapt and enhance operations management systems to handle system growth and traffic increases.
Participate in designing and executing production acceptance tests and hardware evaluations.
Monitor fleet health, automating health checks, maintenance, and reporting systems as needed.
Participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside of regular hours.

Minimum Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in automation for new and existing systems.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust.
Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems.
Experience managing 24x7 high-availability, distributed applications, and performance tuning.
Understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing) and monitoring tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
Experience scripting system tasks (Bash, Python, etc.) and Infrastructure as Code tools (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).
