We are now seeking a Commercial Management Accountant to join our growing team in Hobart.
About the Role
This role plays a critical part in managing the financial performance of assets under SFM's care, preparing and analysing budgets, forecasts, and client reports, and ensuring compliance with AASB16 lease accounting standards. You will work closely with operational teams across Australia, contributing to new project proposals, modelling, and strategic financial planning.
Reporting to the Business Administration Manager, this is a hands-on role suited to a collaborative, proactive finance professional who enjoys working across disciplines and making a meaningful impact.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with operational teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reports.
* Deliver timely management reporting and variance analysis for both SFM and clients.
* Ensure compliance with AASB16 lease accounting and manage lease registers.
* Lead quarterly and annual reporting cycles, including for external clients.
* Analyse unit economics (e.g. cost-per-hectare), cashflow forecasting, and investment returns.
* Support business development through modelling, proposals, and valuation input.
* Drive efficiencies in reporting processes and support internal audits and certifications.

What You'll Bring
* CA or CPA qualification (mandatory)
* 6+ years' experience in commercial or management accounting roles
* Strong analytical, modelling, and reporting skills
* Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with both internal teams and clients
* Advanced Excel capabilities and strong knowledge of AASB16
* Industry experience in primary production, land management, or sustainability sectors is advantageous
* Exposure to ESG reporting or carbon project development will be highly regarded
