We own and operate the global infrastructure that powers Amazon Web Services (AWS), ensuring customers have continuous access to the cloud-based innovation they rely on.
The scope of this role includes overseeing all aspects of a data center's physical infrastructure, managing teams of engineers, driving improvement projects, coordinating with vendors, and effectively managing operations.
Main Responsibilities:
* Critical Infrastructure Management: Ensure high quality work and minimal impact on customers by overseeing all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure.
* Team Leadership: Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career development, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
* Improvement Projects: Engage in improvement projects, driving them from conception to completion, often collaborating with various support teams.
* Vendor Coordination: Coordinate daily with third-party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Operations Management: Effectively manage the day-to-day operations of the data center, ensuring smooth functioning and optimal efficiency.
* Incident Response: Respond to incidents, managing investigation, mitigation, and recovery efforts to minimize downtime and maintain customer satisfaction.
