The Bids & Marketing Lead is responsible for driving AJC’s growth by leading the effective management of the bid and tender process, ensuring the preparation of compelling, high-quality submissions that maximise win rates and support business objectives. Central to the role is the ability to coordinate and deliver clear, persuasive, and well-structured proposals that reflect AJC’s design excellence. Alongside this core responsibility, the Bids & Marketing Lead provides strategic direction for marketing initiatives that ensure AJC’s presence in the market remains strong, consistent, and on brand. Under the direction of the CEO and COO, working collaboratively across the practice, this role ensures that every bid and marketing effort not only pursues new opportunities but also reinforces AJC’s overall market position as a leading design practice
Key Areas of Responsibility
Bid & Tender Management
* Provide strategic oversight of the end-to-end bid/tender process, from planning and reviews through to approvals and submissions.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define winning strategies and value propositions for each opportunity.
* Lead the development of tailored, high-quality, and visually compelling bid documents, ensuring compliance with requirements and submission deadlines.
* Monitor and evaluate bid outcomes to strengthen AJC’s success rates and continuous improvement.
* Maintain and develop AJC’s project database, media archive, website, intranet, and social media channels in line with brand strategy.
Content Development
* Oversee the creation and maintenance of bid templates, case studies, capability statements, and project sheets to support submissions.
* Ensure all content is clear, compelling, and aligned with AJC’s brand identity.
* Guide teams in refining technical content into persuasive narratives that showcase AJC’s expertise and innovation.
* Oversee the commissioning and management of photography, film, and other marketing assets.
Marketing & Communications
* Drive brand awareness and develop the marketing strategy for AJC.
* Develop and implement strategic guidance, ensuring alignment with AJC's overall business objectives and market positioning.
* Maintain the digital marketing communications strategy.
* Investigate new opportunities for engagement, including profiles of key personnel.
* Assist Leadership Team with external communication and ad hoc internal announcements.
* Develop and manage the marketing budget with the COO to gain maximum exposure and industry alignment (e.g. award submissions, events, photography etc).
* Assist and guide COO & Directors to elevate their market leadership position.
Business Development
* Build partnerships with industry bodies and represent AJC at key forums.
* Actively seek and monitor business development, client & markets opportunities.
* Maintain an up-to-date submissions register, tracking bid outcomes and success rates.
Key Qualifications, Skills and Experience
* A bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
* 5+ years’ experience in bid management, business development, or marketing, ideally within the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) industry.
* A solid understanding of the architecture industry, market dynamics, and competitive landscape.
* Proven experience in bid management and/or marketing leadership.
* Expertise in managing the entire bid process, from opportunity identification to proposal development and delivery.
* Skills in managing marketing and bid budgets, understanding financial performance, and demonstrating ROI.
* Experience in leading marketing strategy and delivering successful business development initiatives.
* The ability to analyse data, interpret market trends, and develop effective, data-driven marketing strategies.
* Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), CRM Software, bid management or DAM software, and data analysis tools like Google Analytics.
