Your impact
Jacobs is seeking a proactive and experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our Sydney-based team. This is a pivotal role supporting project delivery and safety excellence across our operations, with a strong focus on compliance, leadership, and culture. As a HSE Advisor, you'll work closely with the HSE Coordinator to provide strategic support and guidance to the Area Management team and broader business. You'll champion Jacobs' BeyondZero values and our Culture of Caring, ensuring compliance with our Business Management System (BMS) and Australian and international standards. Your work will directly support Project Managers, Designated Project Executives, and Managers of Projects in meeting key HSE requirements and delivering exceptional service to our clients.
What You'll Do
* Support and advise project and leadership teams on HSE practices, systems, and procedures
* Assist operations teams in identifying and managing Area HSE risk profiles
* Monitor and ensure compliance with Jacobs' BMS HSE requirements
* Provide visible safety leadership aligned with BeyondZero values
* Conduct site-based safety audits, inspections, and safety walks
* Coach and mentor project personnel and field-based staff
* Assist in overseeing Principle Contractor works and site-based contractors
* Promote a strong health and safety culture across all levels
* Deliver HSE training and facilitate workshops as needed
* Contribute to the local BeyondZero Committee and HSE team initiatives
* Support incident investigations and close-out processes
* Assist Facilities and Operational Leadership with office HSE practices
* Prepare reports on HSE trends, performance, and improvement opportunities
Here's what you'll need
We are ideally looking for someone with tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) or Work Health & Safety (WHS), paired with relevant industry experience. However, if you come from a technical background and have built solid HSE expertise over several years, we absolutely encourage you to apply, your practical experience is highly valued.
* Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, codes of practice, and compliance procedures in ANZ
* Experience in construction activities and field team support (preferred)
* Understanding of project risk management and safety systems
* Proven ability to manage Principle Contractor risks and site safety
* Skilled in conducting audits, inspections, and compliance reporting
* Ability to write technical safety documents including HSE plans and reports
* Proficiency in risk assessment and control monitoring
* Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
* Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Teams
