About the Role
We are seeking a Disability Support Worker to support a male client in his 20’s in Isabella
Plains. This is an exciting opportunity to provide meaningful support to a young adult with
complex needs.
The client has a range of medical conditions, including:
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 3)
• PANS (Paediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome)
• Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Generalised Anxiety Disorder
• Epilepsy
You will be supporting a client who presents with several behavioural challenges,
including:
• Giving threats or using intimidation
• A history of property damage
• Non-compliant behaviours (e.g., resisting support)
• Physical aggression
• Verbal aggression
In this role, you will promote the client's independence, well-being, and dignity while
supporting their daily activities and managing complex behaviours.
About You
To succeed in this role, you should bring the following:
• Experience supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, OCD, and/or
Generalised Anxiety Disorder
• Experience managing challenging behaviours, including aggression and noncompliance
• Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity when supporting clients with complex
needs
• Ability to remain calm and consistent in high-pressure or unpredictable situations
• Experience providing personal care (including support with hygiene and other
activities of daily living)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a person-centred approach to
care
• Flexibility and resilience, especially when dealing with behavioural challenges
Essential Requirements
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Employee Working With Vulnerable People
• Current First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR (HLTAID009) certificates
• Valid Australian Driver’s Licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured car
• At least Certificate III in Disability, Individual Support, or an equivalent
qualification
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in Disability Support or similar roles
• Willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
