Austal is a leading global shipbuilder and Defence prime contractor. They design, construct and support defence and commercial vessels for the world's top operators.

The company operates shipbuilding and sustainment facilities in Australia, the USA, Philippines and Vietnam. They have multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence, employing approximately 1,000 people in facilities in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory.

Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement

This exciting opportunity allows you to be part of meaningful work in a dynamic environment. The company aims to become the Commonwealth's 'Strategic Shipbuilder' in the West, seeking an overarching program which enables the design and build of vessels at the Henderson Shipyard.

The objective of the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement is to possess the capacity and capability to deliver Landing Craft Medium & Heavy for the Australian Army, contributing to continuous naval shipbuilding in WA.

The agreement will establish the capability within the Henderson Precinct and Western Australia to continuously build vessels for the Commonwealth. It will be led by Austal and require engagement of local industry, supply chain and workforce to be successful.

About the Opportunity

This Communication Coordinator position will work closely with the Vice President of Strategic Shipbuilding and the SSA team to develop and implement communication strategies that advance the SSA's mission, brand and initiatives.

* Create compelling content for digital platforms
* Develop and execute social media strategies to engage target audience and increase brand awareness
* Write, edit and proofread press releases, articles, blog posts, social media content and other communication materials
* Assist in planning and executing communications for events, conferences and campaigns

Skills and Experience

* Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, marketing, Journalism or a related field
* 3+ years' experience in communications, public relations, social media or a related field
* Proven ability to write and edit professional content for various platforms and audiences
* Experience with social media management and analytic tools
