Role Description
As the Artist Marketing Manager at GYROstream, you will lead the execution of marketing campaigns for priority artists and manage key commercial relationships across Australia and New Zealand. This dual-facing role combines creative campaign project management with relationship development and strategic oversight, aimed at maximising artist visibility, streaming performance, fan engagement, and overall campaign success.
You will be responsible for the management of the Artist Marketing Coordinator and the Streaming Partnerships Administrators, guiding workflow, ensuring team cohesion, and meeting campaign and performance objectives. You will also work closely with artist teams, internal stakeholders (A&R, digital, publicity), and external platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok, and YouTube to ensure campaigns are aligned, impactful, and executed efficiently.
This role requires a confident, enthusiastic, and highly organised leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about music, digital culture, and supporting independent artists. You will be a strong communicator, an analytical thinker, and a collaborative problem-solver with a passion for both strategy and detail.
Position Objectives
Execute Artist Campaigns Across Platforms:
Plan and oversee marketing campaigns for priority artists, ensuring delivery across DSPs, digital platforms, social media, and media channels with measurable outcomes.
Manage DSP Relationships & Pitching:
Act as the lead for DSP partnerships and opportunities across AU/NZ, ensuring timely and effective pitching for editorial support and marketing programs.
Lead & Mentor Internal Teams:
Manage the Artist Marketing Coordinator and Streaming Partnerships Administrators to ensure efficient operations, reporting, and campaign success.
Facilitate Internal Collaboration:
Act as a central project manager and communicator across internal departments (A&R, publicity, digital, sync, partnerships) to drive alignment on artist projects.
Drive Insights & Strategic Growth:
Report on campaign performance using analytics, provide insights to improve future initiatives, and support the growth of GYROstream’s artist services offering.
Responsibilities
Campaign Strategy & Execution
* Oversee and execute all facets of artist marketing campaigns, including timelines, content plans, DSP pitching, digital marketing and publicity integration.
* Collaborate with the Digital Marketing Manager and Publicity & Partnerships Manager to ensure effective rollout across all platforms.
* Develop and manage the overarching artist marketing calendar and campaign pipeline, in coordination with internal teams.
Commercial Partnerships
* Manage and grow GYROstream’s DSP relationships, ensuring strong ongoing communication with local and global platform contacts.
* Maintain and grow a knowledge base of DSP marketing opportunities and proactively submit artists for editorial and marketing opportunities.
* Coordinate the execution of the ‘Pitch and Release’ artist program and maintain DSP-facing campaign presentations.
Leadership & People Management
* Lead, mentor, and manage direct reports including the Artist Marketing Coordinator and Streaming Partnerships Administrators.
* Allocate work across the team, build capability, and conduct regular check-ins to track campaign progress and team development.
Internal & External Communication
* Serve as the primary liaison between internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and timely flow of information.
* Maintain strong relationships with artists, managers, and external teams, ensuring campaign expectations are managed and exceeded.
Business Operations & Strategy
* Manage project-based marketing budgets and ensure accurate financial records of marketing and drawdown spend.
* Develop strategies in collaboration with the Instrumental Programs Lead to acquire artist services clients across the GYRO group (e.g., Soothe Sounds, Florecilla).
* Collaborate with A&R to identify opportunities for catalogue marketing and sync potential, and feed into campaign development for both legacy and upcoming releases.
* Represent GYROstream at industry events, panels, and artist showcases as required.
Role Requirements
* Minimum 3+ years experience in a music marketing, DSP, or campaign management role.
* Demonstrated experience in executing complex artist marketing campaigns, with a track record of delivering tangible results.
* Strong team management and leadership skills with the ability to delegate, coach, and align team members to broader strategic goals.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting campaign strategies and pitching to DSPs.
* Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and priorities.
* Working knowledge of digital advertising platforms including Meta Business Suite, TikTok Ads, YouTube, and Spotify Ad Studio.
* Deep understanding of digital music consumption trends, artist fan engagement strategies, and social/digital storytelling.
* Proficient in using analytics platforms (Spotify for Artists, Chartmetric, etc.) and applying data insights to inform campaigns.
* Strong attention to detail, formatting, and documentation.
* Passionate about music and comfortable working across genres and artist types.
