An exciting new opportunity is available for an experienced and proactive Payroll Manager to lead a dedicated team of 9 Payroll Specialists who pay our 5,800 employees each fortnight. Reporting to the Senior Shared services Manager, you will work collaboratively with the large broader HR team of approx. 60 professionals.
Contributing to the efficient performance of the Payroll Team, you will ensure the accurate processing of payroll, including the timely resolution of any payroll queries. Additionally, you will support escalations, audits, end of month, and stakeholders across the business with other payroll related information and reports.
As we move forward during this dynamic period of growth and transformation, the upcoming payroll system upgrade project beginning in 2026 will provide an opportunity for you to draw on your expertise.

NOTE: demonstrated recent experience using ichris and knowledge of time in attendance is essential to be considered for this integral role
Your role will include;
* Overseeing, and processing when required, end-to-end processing of payroll for all employees
* Ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time every fortnight
* Monitoring, resolving and responding to any payroll errors and/or concerns
* Managing the Single Touch Payroll and PayDay Super processes
* Completing end of pay and month end processes including leave liabilities and employee deductions
* Overseeing Single Touch Payroll, month and year end processes
* Creating reports, dissecting data and providing insights
* Supporting a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including auditors
* Maintaining knowledge of all related legislations and updates
* Providing effective leadership, coaching, and support to the payroll team
* Managing the integrity of employee payroll information within Dayforce
* Engaging with team members in a positive and respectful manner, welcoming a culturally diverse team
The preferred candidate will be highly motivated with a genuine commitment to fostering collaboration and curiosity within a dynamic work environment, have high attention to detail and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in addition to;
* 8+ yrs extensive hands‐on payroll processing experience within a large organisation
* 2+ yrs demonstrated experience as a Payroll Manager within a large complex organisation
* Knowledge and/or experience within Not for Profit and NFP Salary Packaging
* Thorough knowledge of payroll legislative requirements
* Demonstrated experience using Payroll, HRIS and Time in Attendance systems – ichris/Dayforce/Humanforce
* Ability to manage own workload and competing priorities in a calm and professional manner
* Ability to interpret multiple awards and Catholic Healthcare's Enterprise Agreements
* High levels of professional integrity in managing sensitive and confidential information with discretion
* Willingness to obtain Police Check
