About The Role
The Emergency Medicine Pharmacist provides specialist clinical pharmacy services to the Emergency Department (ED) and contributes to the delivery of the overall pharmacy service. This role focuses on optimising medication management through the safe, rational, and cost-effective use of medicines.
Key responsibilities include providing evidence-based drug information and clinical advice to medical, nursing, and allied health staff, supporting patient-centred medication therapy, and contributing to the efficient procurement, supply, and distribution of medicines in accordance with organisational and regulatory standards.
This is a permanent full-time role based in our Emergency Department at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
About You
You are a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and hold postgraduate qualifications in Clinical Pharmacy (Diploma or equivalent), with a minimum of six months’ experience in the relevant specialty, or not less than three years’ experience in hospital pharmacy including a minimum of twelve months in the relevant specialty.
You have extensive experience in the provision of advanced clinical pharmacy services in a hospital setting and demonstrate a sound understanding of contemporary clinical pharmacy practice, quality use of medicines, and relevant state and national policies supporting medication safety. You possess well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with pharmacy staff, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and patients along with strong problem-solving skills and a proven record of contribution to medication safety and quality assurance activities.
You are committed to ongoing professional development, including participation in and delivery of education to multidisciplinary healthcare teams and patients, and have the demonstrated capacity to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
