Head of Market and Patient Access - VAF 256 AustraliaPermanent contract General Mission To lead and mentor the local business unit - Market & Patient Access. To plan, organize and manage delivery services and BU resources in order to deliver high quality services (within time and budget) and obtain a long-term relationship with clients. Role Purpose & Responsibilities The BU Head is a member of the local leadership team and will contribute to formulating and setting the local annual and long-term objectives and strategy aligned to the global objectives and strategy.The BU Head will collaborate with the global Head of Business Unit to ensure alignment of local business unit strategies with overall global business unit objectives.The BU Head is responsible for providing leadership to the local BU, achieving the financial and organisational objectives, representing the BU internally and externally and developing and implementing strategies that ensure the development and growth of the BU.In relation to the operation of the local BU as a whole and the various service functions within it, the BU Head is responsible for overseeing business promotion and service differentiation including insights into local and global trends and thought leadership initiatives; management and development of client relationships; encouragement and support of new business initiatives and opportunities that contribute to growth of the business locally and globally. The BU Head will have significant experience and technical expertise in the relevant subject matter to both support and develop the team internally, and to contribute to the positioning of the business as a thought leader and market leader in Market & Patient Access. The BU Head is also responsible for optimal utilization of their team, staff performance management, recommendations on professional development and succession planning aligned to the global strategy; adherence to all policies and quality management system; delivery of personal development plans of direct reports and accountable for direct reports delivery for their reports.The BU Head is accountable for building on the existing commercial base of the BU through the development and implementation of business development initiatives: for meeting agreed financial objectives, ensuring teamwork, cross-functionality and operational efficiencies across the business, encouraging value based professional conduct and delivering excellent client service.The BU Head will be consulted and provide recommendations on resource planning and recruitment and selection. Reporting Relationships The BU Head will report to the Managing Director. Reporting to the BU Head will be the managerial, consulting, service delivery and administrative support roles of the BU as required. Financial, Operational and ROI Performance Reporting BU financial year budget - fees, cost of sales, operational expenses, gross profit, gross margin percentage and operating profit.BU revenue, new business, cost of sales and gross profit reporting - Month, Quarter and Financial Year.Demonstrated and agreed ROI targets for BU investment initiatives including Opex.Oversight and review of metrics for performance of the local BU with respect to agreed billability targets. Reporting of metrics to the global Head of BU and Staff and Performance Director. Delegation Authority Client proposal sign-off - refer to organisational Delegation Authority Limits.Signatory to an offer of employment.Approval of subordinate requests includingleave requests (annual and personal)client related travel requestsbudgeted business expense claimsOversight of third-party contractors and suppliers. Preferred Qualifications / Experience Bachelor's degree in biomedical science, pharmacology, pharmacy or related field.Postgraduate degree in management, health economics, public health or a related field.Minimum 10 years relevant management/consulting or industry experience.Vision and energy to lead and grow a consulting / technical professional service business.Outstanding pharmaceutical and / or medical tech industry reputation.Extensive pharmaceutical and / or medical tech industry network (middle & senior).Experience in managing functions/departments.Financial acumen and business management aptitude.Demonstrated business development skills.
