About The Role
* Salary: $113K - $121K plus superannuation and annual leave loading
* Contract: Fixed Term – 12 months
* Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Specific Responsibilities
* Design and conduct analytical chemistry studies on polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles for diagnostics using MRI, magnetic particle imaging, and targeted therapy.
* Characterise and synthesize polymer-coated magnetic nanoparticles; separate degradation by-products and reaction products from biological fluids via chromatography.
* Research magnetic nanoparticle surface modification, transmission electron microscopy, and magnetic measurements.
* Maintain laboratory notebooks detailing all experiments.
* Deliver timely analytical results and prepare data for peer-reviewed publication.
* Contribute to scientific papers, progress reports, and research proposals.
* Collaborate with industry partners and coordinate research activities to meet project milestones.
* Present findings at national and international conferences.
* Assist in training PhD and honours students.
* Demonstrate UNSW Values in Action and comply with health and safety policies.
About The Successful Applicant
* PhD specializing in analytical chemistry or polymer/nanoparticle synthesis.
* Proven ability to characterize polymers, nanoparticles, and by-products.
* Experience in materials synthesis and research environments.
* Track record of independent academic research and publications.
* Ability to keep current with disciplinary knowledge.
* Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and building relationships.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
* Commitment to UNSW values and policies.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.
