Disability Support Worker - Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Disability Support Worker to provide high-quality, person-centered support to individuals with disabilities. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping them achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life.
About the Role:
* Provide individualised support: Offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals with disabilities, including housekeeping, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, medication management, and more.
* Demonstrate knowledge and care: Show an understanding of health and well-being, cultural plans, transition plans, and behavior support plans, as well as knowledge about protocols regarding restrictive practices and medication requirements.
* Assist with community inclusion: Help individuals participate in community activities and services based on their preferences and abilities, and assist them in establishing and maintaining relationships and interests.
* Ensure effective communication: Provide regular feedback to the Home and Community Support Manager regarding issues that require follow-up, including matters related to individuals, their families, external supports, fellow employees, and community access activities.
* Maintain compliance: Adhere to our Code of Conduct, policies, and Quality Management System procedures to ensure the highest standards of care and support.
* Prioritise safety and wellbeing: Demonstrate a strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself, individuals with disabilities, and others in the work environment.
About You:
* Certificate III or IV in individual supports: Must hold a Certificate III or IV in individual supports (aged care, disability, or home and community services).
* Experience working with autism: Must have prior experience supporting individuals with autism.
* Drivers license and vehicle: Must hold a valid drivers license and have a reliable vehicle for transportation.
* Working With Children Check: Must hold a current Working With Children Check.
* Additional qualifications: While not required, qualifications in community services, disability, mental health, or related fields are highly desirable.
