What We Offer
We have a full-time vacancy for a construction materials tester at our Laverton production laboratory. This position suits both entry level and experienced candidates looking to advance their career.
Responsibilities
* Sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates, binders and asphalt field compaction testing.
* Day‐to‐day sampling and testing in accordance with specified requirements.
* Handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant standards.
* Reporting, record keeping and calibrations including reporting non‐conforming products.
* Conduct procedures safely and maintain good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounds.
* Providing technical support to production departments.
* Maintaining the laboratory in accordance with NATA requirements.
* Occasional travel based on the needs of the business.
Qualifications
* Attention to detail; ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
* Professional written and interpersonal communication skills.
* Honest, confident and reliable.
* Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others and efficient teamwork.
* Current and valid driver's licence.
* Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (advantageous).
* Previous experience in heavy industries or an interest in this field.
* Understanding of the asphalt industry (preferred).
* Familiarity with Australian laboratory standards (viewed favourably but not essential – full training provided).
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
* Experience with QESTLAB advantageous.
* Willingness to work nightshifts and weekends as required.
Benefits
Annual salary of $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation, dependent on experience. Flexible working arrangements may be available.
