An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced mental health clinician to join the Ryde Community Mental Health Service (RCMHS) as a Mental Health Clinician for the NSRMHS Police, Ambulance and Clinical Early Response (PACER) team.

Salary per week:

Clinical Nurse Consultant (Grade 2): $2,527.30 - $2,577.70

Allied Health Professional (Level 4): $2,331.57 - $2,388.09

Senior Psychologist: $2,284.57 - $2,475.55

Where you'll be working

The PACER Clinician is integrated within the Ryde Community Mental Health Service and based at Eastwood Police Station.

Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.

Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.

What you'll be doing
The Ryde PACER Clinician is attached to the Ryde Community Mental Health Service, based at Eastwood Police station and will provide a highly mobile, recovery orientated clinical advice, consultancy and support to NSW Police (Eastwood Local Area Command) managing mental health related cases in the community. The PACER Clinician is a response requested by an operational police unit and provides mental health intervention and undertakes triage, primary client assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level.

This role will see you provide timely and effective mental health triage, risk assessment and intervention alongside emergency services. You will facilitate appropriate diversion from emergency departments and inpatient care when possible and support individuals in crisis with a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed approach.

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience as per clinical discipline. Clinical Nurse Consultant or Senior Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with full AHPRA registration or Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW with demonstrated expertise in the area of Mental Health. Social Workers and Occupational Therapists will need minimum experience as a Level 2. Clinical Nurse Consultant requires minimum five years full time post graduate experience with 3 years full time equivalent in Mental Health. In addition must have an approved post graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards Masters level qualification. Senior Psychologist with a four year degree in psychology, registered as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and a minimum of one year at the 9th year of service on the Psychology salary scale.
2. Experience and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Police, Ambulance, Emergency Department staff, GP's, Psychiatrists.
3. Extensive Mental Health experience of assessment, crisis management and effective care planning in complex clinical presentations.
4. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge in Mental Health Act 2007 mental health adults, children and drug and alcohol issues. Experience of working with families and inter agencies to achieve the best mental health outcomes. Plus demonstrated knowledge of medications and their side effects, and associated physical health concerns.
5. Demonstrated experience in assessment, care planning and coordination with mental health consumers in a community setting within a strengths and recovery oriented framework
6. Evidence of accreditation under the Mental Health Act 2007 or willingness to work towards registration to be an Accredited Person. With a willingness to undertake drug and alcohol, child and youth training and apply to a range of work practices within the community settings.
7. Current NSW unrestricted drivers licence.
