Human Resources Officer (Relocation Support to Katherine, NT!)
Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is a community-led Aboriginal health service delivering integrated primary healthcare and wellbeing programs across more than 160,000 km² of remote NT. We are an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation focused on holistic care — supporting physical health, social, cultural, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. We are rebuilding and growing our HR team to better serve our mission. You will be part of a team that builds systems, supports staff, and brings calm to chaos in a fast-paced health environment.
Our HR culture is kind, hardworking, and collaborative — with plenty of laughs in between.
What this role offers
Base pay range: A$80,000.00/yr
- Step into a meaningful HR role where your work supports real community outcomes
- Starting from A$80K + super + EBA increases + relocation and accommodation support
- Join a growing, people-first HR team shaping the future of workforce support
- Build your HR career in a role with purpose, variety and connection
Role purpose and responsibilities
This role supports all the moving parts that keep our workforce thriving — onboarding, compliance, coordination, and people-first problem solving. You’ll be the go-to person for getting staff set up, keeping things running smoothly, and making sure the little things don’t fall through the cracks.
You’ll be joining a close-knit, supportive team that values clear communication, common sense, and a good laugh. We are refreshing systems, improving templates, and implementing changes after a recent HR audit. There’s structure, but space to help shape how things are done. The team is rebuilding foundations and refining how HR supports the wider organisation.
You don’t need remote experience or cultural expertise to start — just a respectful attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn. The rest, we’ll support you with.
What you’ll do in onboarding and early days
- Join a structured online orientation to meet our organisation and people
- Complete cultural awareness videos and learn about our mission and model
- Visit key departments — Finance, Assets, IT, HR — to understand cross-functional workflows
- Learn day-to-day systems like timesheets, purchase orders, and compliance platforms
- Shadow team members and build confidence in the HR toolkit
As you settle in, you’ll have opportunities to travel with the team to remote communities to understand local context and connect with Aboriginal community members.
You don’t need to know it all — your growth will be supported.
Team and culture
Join a team that’s rebuilding together. The HR team is small but evolving, focused on creating a collaborative culture that’s adaptable, respectful, and open to change. You’ll work with teammates who bring diverse strengths and a shared purpose. The HR Manager leads with support and forward-thinking practices.
Your ideas will be heard. Your efforts will be seen. Your growth will be supported.
What you’ll need
We’re looking for someone who loves organisation, enjoys working with people, and brings a calm, practical approach to busy days.
You’ll likely have:
- Strong admin or HR support experience
- Good attention to detail and a proactive attitude
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and managing digital records
- Cultural sensitivity and a respectful, team-first attitude

- HR qualifications or previous experience in onboarding, recruitment, or compliance
- Prior work in remote, community, or Aboriginal health settings
- Familiarity with Communicare, HR templates, or government HR processes
- A love of structure, strong admin skills, and a proactive spirit
You don’t need to know it all — we’ll train you. What matters is your work ethic, your values, and your willingness to be part of a growing team.
What you’ll get
- Starting from A$80,000 + super, depending on experience and level
- Annual salary increases in line with Enterprise Agreement
- 6–8 weeks accommodation on arrival for relocators
- $2,000 annual PD allowance for training, courses, or study
- Opportunities to travel to remote communities with the team
- A pathway for internal growth into project roles or senior HR
