About the Company
Our client grows numerous varieties of table grapes including red, green and black seedless varieties available for domestic and export markets. Our clients pick and ship organic red seedless grapes to markets from January to May.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager to lead all horticultural and operational aspects of our vineyard and citrus orchard. This is a senior leadership position responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of all growing, harvesting, post-harvest, and maintenance operations for 300 acres of table grapes and 300 acres of citrus
Main Responsibilities
•Develop and manage annual horticultural programs for grapes and citrus, aligned with varietal requirements and export market demands.
•Oversee irrigation scheduling, nutrient programs, pest/disease control (IPM), canopy management, pruning, thinning, and harvest timing.
•Lead, train, and supervise a large seasonal and permanent workforce to meet production and quality objectives.
•Manage trellis systems, irrigation infrastructure, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
•Ensure HACCP, GlobalG.A.P., HARPS, and Fair Farms compliance and full traceability from field to packhouse.
•Prepare and manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and provide production forecasts to the Board.
•Coordinate closely with packing and logistics teams to meet domestic and export shipment schedules.
Requirements
Education / Experience / Skills
•Minimum 5 years’ proven management experience in large-scale commercial fruit production (preferably table grapes and citrus).
•Strong agronomic knowledge of viticulture and citrus production.
•Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large seasonal teams in a commercial horticultural environment.
•Practical experience with modern horticultural machinery and irrigation systems.
•Current driver’s licence, forklift licence, and ChemCert accreditation.
•Understanding of HACCP, GlobalG.A.P., HARPS, and export compliance requirements.
