Job Description
The Solutions Specialist is a critical role within our team, responsible for providing technical expertise in satellite connected networking solutions. This position requires the ability to design and implement customized solutions that meet the unique needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and install satellite solution hardware components, including dependant internal systems and customer-facing networks.
* Support and maintain VIG Solutions airtime systems, including legacy TC Comms DP and G2 VAR networks and applications.
* Diagnose issues end-to-end, isolate causes, and implement corrective maintenance to return systems to service.
* Collaborate with peers and management to assist in incident analysis and escalation as needed.
* Provide assistance with pre-sales support, demonstrations, and exhibitions as required.
* Assemble and test custom solutions to meet client needs.
* Create technical documentation to record as-built configurations and support bids.
* Develop and deliver operator and technical training to partners and end-user customers.
* Conduct technical skills assessments of VIG partners and end-user staff where required.
* Conduct root cause analysis of satellite solution issues and document findings.
* On-site and workshop inspections, repairs, installations, and maintenance of networking equipment, satellite terminals (aero, marine, land), and related hardware.
* Participation in the on-call roster.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Trade-qualified to Australian Electrotechnology/Telecommunications/IP Networking Certificate VI or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years industry experience.
* Experience in IP networking and IT (server deployment and maintenance) or satellite communications technologies, with working knowledge of Microsoft and/or Linux.
* Ability to configure IP networking hardware (routers, firewalls, switches) to meet customer needs.
* Ability to prepare and deliver technical presentations and reports to clients on performance and incidents.
* Strong analytical skills to diagnose client issues and propose solutions; self-motivated with the ability to motivate peers.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Visio.
* Ability to work at heights with Working at Heights certification and in confined spaces with Confined Space certification.
