Maintenance Fitter
As a Maintenance Fitter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our mechanical systems and equipment.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Carrying out repairs and maintenance work on site, adhering to safe systems of work, food safety protocols, and engineering standards.
* Undertaking both unplanned (reactive or breakdown maintenance) and planned (corrective, preventative or rebuild work) for offline or online equipment.
* Ensuring maximum equipment uptime by providing efficient, safe, and compliant mechanical maintenance within designated shift coverage.
* Acting as the first point of contact for mechanical maintenance requirements from internal customers (Operations, Safety, Quality, and Engineering) and timely escalation for additional assistance or work outside their remit.
* Completing assigned or planned work and scoping material or labour requirements for work identified as 'requests for work.'
* Investigating technical and mechanical issues, and immediately escalating and reporting safety or food safety concerns, near misses, incidents, or hazards.
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* Experience with mechanical assembly, fitting, repairing, and maintenance of mechanical systems or equipment, including sub-assemblies and components.
* Ability to receive direction, understand shift, department, site, and/or business priorities, and execute tasks in a timely manner.
* A logical and problem-solving mindset when identifying faults and mechanical troubleshooting.
* Experience in repair/maintenance in fast-paced environments such as modern manufacturing settings.
* Knowledge of mechanical systems like pneumatic, hydraulic, power transmission, and fluid transfer systems.
* Background knowledge of refrigeration, boilers, compressed air, advanced waste-water or trade waste treatment plant.
* Certificate III Mechanical Trade or Cert III Mechanical Trade – Fitter/Machinist, or equivalent qualifications in Fluid Power (Pneumatics), hydraulics, or pneumatics.
* Excellent communication skills, high-level interpersonal skills, and sound judgment.
