Our client, a leading mining operator is currently seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer for a site-based role. This position will play a key part in project planning, scheduling, and cost control to ensure successful delivery across various brownfield and sustaining capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
* Apply Critical Path Method (CPM) principles to identify milestones and guide project execution.
* Track progress against plans, forecast schedule outcomes, and prepare stakeholder status reports.
* Support schedule risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure schedule alignment and transparency.
* Regularly update schedules with the latest contractor and stakeholder inputs.
* Manage and allocate project budgets in accordance with internal requirements.
* Monitor, analyse, and report cost variances to maintain visibility of risks and deviations.
* Use detailed Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) for accurate cost tracking and reporting.
* Prepare cost reports, monitoring curves, and analysis packs as needed.
* Assist in reviewing and validating contractor progress claims.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning, scheduling, and cost control processes.
* Ensure all project control practices adhere to internal procedures and governance frameworks.
Skills/Experience
* Proven experience in mining project controls, preferably in a site-based environment.
* Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, and established cost control systems.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present complex data.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
This role is on a 9:5 roster with FIFO from Brisbane.
