Substation Design Engineer – Primary Electrical System

Role and Responsibilities
* Undertake detailed design and engineering calculation, simulation, modelling, and Primary system design reports.
* Primary System design including Primary SLD, Equipment sizing, LV/HV Cable sizing and cable system design, GA Layout, Plans and sections, Cable layout, conduits and trenching layout, switchroom and control room design, Earth grid design, Indoor & outdoor lighting system design, material schedule, Station Service Transformer sizing and LV AC design, Lightning Protection & Insulation coordination study, Short circuit forces calculation, Electromagnetic Field (EMF) study, Safety in Design
* Procurement Engineering - primary plant specifications, datasheets, Primary plant manufacturer drawing review, factory inspections
* Compliance with Client's design standards, relevant project standards and specifications, compliance with local codes and other requirements.
* Oversee the Design drafting work including developing the design, red line markup, reviewing the drawing, and mentoring the design drafters.
* Internal and inter-discipline design review and quality checks, Coordination with inter-discipline Design teams for design input, design development and design review work.
* Safety in Design – Design Risk Management, identify design risks and issues, and provide mitigation measures.
* Design Budget - Develop the design budget, time and effort estimation, sequencing, scheduling, and monitoring and control of the design budget.
* Quality Management – Design Input and output quality review process, Quality documentation, Quality audit.
* Design Risk Management – Manage SiD, Risk Register, participate in SiD workshop, develop SID Report, Monitoring & Control.
* Design Schedule Management – develop, monitor and control design schedule, design input and outputs, design deliverables, and document control.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree in Electrical Power System.
* Professional membership of National & International Institutes.
* 7+ Years of Design & Engineering experience in delivering Substation Primary System design to Utility substations or large-scale Renewable Energy & T&D Infrastructure projects.
* In depth experience of undertaking Primary system design modelling including short circuit forces calculations, EMF Study, Insulator Coordination, Earthgrid modelling and design and Lighting system modelling and design.
* Delivered EHV Substation primary design.
* Simulation Software
* Electrical – DIg SILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, PSCAD, Cyme, CDEG, PLS-CAD, ETAP
