MoneyMob is seeking two Financial Counsellors to join our Alice Springs team.
* Full time, 38 hours per week based in Alice Springs
* Ongoing subject to continued funding
* $102-10k per annum plus 12% super (depending on experience)
* SCHADS Level 5
* Suitably qualified and experienced First Nations candidates are encouraged to apply
NB: Fortnightly travel to the APY Lands and remote communities in the NT is part of the role requirements, travelling two weeks per month. Trips generally leave on a Sunday and return on a Friday, and staff receive a day of TOIL in the following week.

About MoneyMob Talkabout
MoneyMob Talkabout is a not-for-profit organisation providing financial counselling and capability casework, financial literacy and energy efficiency education and community development programs. We are funded to deliver services to Anangu in Adelaide, the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in northern South Australia, and in the Northern Territory.

About You

About the Role
The Financial Counsellor will be based in Alice Springs in our Financial Wellbeing Service. Our staff undertake casework using an “assertive outreach” model, going to client homes and community locations where they feel comfortable, whilst always remaining mindful of safety.
Our Financial Counsellors work within a holistic, trauma- informed and culturally respectful case management approach, helping clients and their families address the issues underlying their financial stress, negotiating, advocating and supporting people to move towards financial resilience and wellbeing through building their skill s.

The Financial Counsellor should:
* Have completed or be undergoing the Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling) Additional community sector experience/qualifications will be highly valued
* Have a minimum of two years' experience in community services work with complex clients (experience with First Nations clients and/or in a remote setting highly desirable).
* Passion for social and economic justice and an understanding that poverty is political and structural
* Skills/experience in case management, including the ability to support clients with meeting needs, goal setting, behaviour change, and advocacy.
* Excellent verbal, written, organisational, IT and problem-solving skills.
* Unrestricted drivers’ license
In Your First Six Months You'll:
* Get to know the town, organisation and team
* Undertake First Nations cultural education and 4WD training
* Meet clients and stakeholders
* Travel through beautiful desert country to surrounding remote communities.
* Experience desert warmth and humour
Note: remote work requires good psychological and physical fitness. Due to the demands of the environment, this type of work is not recommended for people who have or are experiencing significant and unresolved trauma/mental ill health, major life upheavals or certain physical/chronic illnesses.
