Join a dynamic local council's Civic Services team as a Local Laws Officer, helping deliver a responsive, professional, and community-focused local laws service. This hands-on role involves investigating complaints, promoting compliance, and educating residents on local laws, animal management, and community safety.
What you'll do:
* Educate residents on Local Laws, Animal Management, and Parking compliance.
* Investigate and resolve issues such as dumped rubbish, overhanging vegetation, unsightly properties, and unauthorised land use.
* Issue warnings, infringements, and prepare documentation for potential prosecutions.
* Conduct park patrols, manage animal collections, and support community events.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, Victoria Police, and the Magistrates Court.
* Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain accurate reports and records.
What we're looking for:
* Industry-recognised qualification in animal management, enforcement, local laws, justice, or similar.
* Sound knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations, and council by-laws.
* Proven experience in compliance or law enforcement roles, ideally in local government.
* Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills with a customer-first approach.
* Physical capability to walk long distances and safely handle animals.
* Current Victorian driver's licence, police check, and Working with Children Check.
