You will contribute independently and as a team member to collaborative research, with a focus on enhancing the quality of research outcomes.
You will be part of a project that aims to enhance mining safety through the development of nanosensors for real-time monitoring of flammable and toxic gases.
Your work will involve developing and optimising scalable nanowire sensor manufacturing processes using electrochemical synthesis and related techniques, conducting electrochemical analysis and performance testing of nanosensors in both laboratory and simulated mining environments.
Additionally, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate these nanosensors into mining equipment.This position will provide you with the opportunity to develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally.
You will contribute to writing scientific papers and reports for international journals, participate in conferences and workshops, supervise HDR students, and actively engage with industry partners.This role reports to Dr Jing Zhao and has nil direct reports.Salary, Level A, AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuationFull timeFixed term – 12 monthsLocation : Kensington – Sydney, AustraliaSkills & Experience :A PhD in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience in at least one of the following areas : electrochemical analysis, nanosensor development, or related research.Hands-on experience with Electrochemical workstation, SEM, XRD, XPS, Raman is highly desirable.Demonstrated ability to undertake high quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills.Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students.An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.To Apply : Please click the apply now button and submit your CV, Cover Letter and Responses to the Skills and Experience.
