Australian Prawn Farms Pty Ltd is a highly innovative and successful aquaculture company, producing premium black tiger prawns. The hatchery, grow out farm and processing facilities are located just south of Sarina, Queensland. With operations expanding there are opportunities for the successful candidate to grow their role during these exciting times for the company.
Duties & Responsibilities
Aquaculture Technicians will be required to:
Actively participate in training and assigned duties.
Work in both the hatchery and grow out areas.
Experience and gain skills in fundamentals of prawn aquaculture, including maturation and spawning, live feed production, feeding and feed monitoring, and basic maintenance.
Assist in various additional tasks as assigned, eg animal health monitoring, microbiology, sample collection, analysis of water quality parameters, and harvesting.
Participate in research trials, collect data and assist compile reports as required.
Assist with cleaning and routine maintenance.
Adhere to and maintain our standard operating procedures.
Strictly adhere to the company's workplace health and safety, and responsible environmental practices.
Strictly adhere to the company's biosecurity protocols.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Relevant aquaculture/science qualifications (TAFE or University) and/or experience is desirable.
Sound competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
You should possess an awesome work ethic and be highly motivated to succeed.
You must be able to work responsibly and effectively within a team environment, and unsupervised.
A valid Australian Driver's License is required.
