General Accountant – NDIS Disability Services & Plan Management
We are a growing NDIS registered disability services provider operating across Queensland, committed to empowering participants and supporting their independence. With recent expansion into Plan Management services, we are seeking a skilled General Accountant to strengthen our finance team, ensuring compliance with NDIS financial guidelines, ATO requirements, and Australian accounting standards.
About the Role
As a General Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the organisation’s financial operations, trust accounts, and NDIS plan management reporting. The role will also carry responsibilities relating to ATO compliance, including preparation and management of Business Activity Statements (BAS), PAYG withholding, payroll tax, superannuation obligations, and assisting with annual tax return requirements to ensure full adherence to Australian taxation laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements and reports for presentation to the Board, management, and statutory bodies.
- Assist in formulating budgets and accounting policies aligned with NDIS funding and organisational needs.
- Manage ATO compliance, including BAS, PAYG, payroll tax, superannuation, and company tax returns.
- Oversee payroll under the SCHADS Award, STP submissions, and employee entitlements.
- Monitor NDIS plan management transactions, participant income streams, and service delivery expenditure.
- Maintain general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and internal control systems.
- Introduce and maintain accounting systems, integrating with NDIS platforms (e.g., PRODA, Careview) and Xero.
- Provide taxation and financial advice on business operations, structures, and growth strategies.
- Provide training, guidance, and oversight to accounting staff, reviewing the accuracy of their work.
- Support internal and external audit processes to ensure transparency and compliance.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (essential).
- Minimum of 3 years’ professional accounting experience, including at least 1 year in Australia, preferably in NDIS, healthcare, or not-for-profit sectors.
- Professional membership (CPA/CA/IPA) or working towards (highly regarded).
- Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, ATO compliance, and NDIS financial frameworks.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB) and familiarity with NDIS platforms (e.g., PRODA, Careview).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Valid Australian Driver Licence.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card/Blue Card) will be considered an advantage.
