Our client is seeking skilled Cook to join their restaurant located in Rosebud, Victoria.
As a cook you will prepare, cook and present food items to a consistently high standard, ensuring efficient kitchen operations.
You will support the Head Chef by maintaining food quality, hygiene, and safety standards and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations that achieve service and business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall Responsibilities
1. Prepare and cook food items to a consistently high standard.
2. Deliver menu items promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
3. Work within budget requirements to minimise waste and costs.
4. Maintain hygiene and implement approved food safety plans.
5. Ensure kitchen equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
6. Support the Head Chef in ensuring consistency in food preparation.
7. Enforce nutrition and sanitation standards.
8. Promote teamwork and ensure strong performance in the kitchen.
9. Receive and store food according to health regulations.
10. Attend meetings as required.
Main Activities
1. Cook high quality food according to recipes and menu guidelines.
2. Assist with supervision of apprentices and kitchen hands.
3. Maintain good communication between kitchen and floor staff.
4. Receive and account for suppliers and deliveries.
5. Assist in training recent staff, including apprentices and trainees.
6. Follow hygienic food handling practices.
7. Adhere to cleaning and waste disposal practices.
8. Use safe work practices and encourage others to do the same.
9. Maintain kitchen equipment in good working order.
Teamwork / Organisational Skills

Monitor Quality and Costs
1. Assist in monitoring food revenue and food costs.
2. Support sales-building initiatives with the Duty Manager.
3. Inspect food preparation and finished products to ensure standards.
4. Monitor storage facilities to ensure proper handling procedures.
5. Maintain cost control over food production and minimise wastage.
Maintain the Kitchen
1. Follow opening and closing procedures.
2. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
3. Report deficiencies and assist with solutions.
4. Manage food storage securely and responsibly.
Administrative Duties
1. Follow stock requisitioning procedures.
2. Participate in stocktakes.
3. Complete kitchen-related paperwork and notes as required.
Requirements:
1. Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery
2. At least two (2) years of relevant prior experience as a Cook
3. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
4. Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and prep lists accurately
5. Strong time management and multitasking skills
6. Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
