**The Role**
This Australian Public Service (APS) position is employed within the Directorate of History and Heritage Services - Air Force (DHHS-AF). The Archivist - RAAF Historical Records position currently is responsible for managing one APS and various RAAF Reserve personnel in the RAAF Historical Records Section. This Section maintains the central Air Force repository of both digital and physical records contained within the RAAF Historical Records Collection.
**About our Team**
Whilst the RAAF Historical Records Section is a very small team, it significantly contributes to Defence capability by maintaining the central Air Force repository of historically significant RAAF records.
These digital and hardcopy records encapsulates more than 100 years of RAAF history and heritage and includes operational, personnel and organisational specific information. These records are an essential point of reference for both current and future researchers.
The Section closely liaises with key internal and external stakeholders - including Australian War Memorial and National Archives of Australia. The Section is managed by a RAAF Squadron Leader Reservist, and is supported by a Collections Manager (APS 4) and up to ten other RAAF Reservists. The majority of Reservists work remotely, and the Archivist is responsible for managing, directing and mentoring these personnel.
