The role of a Dental Hygienist plays a crucial part in providing quality dental care and associated services to patients.
Key Responsibilities
This position involves assessing dental conditions and needs of patients using approved patient screening procedures, including medical history review, dental charting, and periodontal charting.
* Evaluating overall oral health, examining the oral cavity for signs of periodontal disease or possible cancers, including recessed & bleeding gums and oral lesions.
* Exposing, processing, and mounting radiograph films.
* Documenting dental history or chief complaint; recording and reporting pertinent observations and patient reactions to dentists, as appropriate.
* Documenting lab procedures and ensuring follow-up on results.
This role also involves conducting dental health clinics for community groups to augment services of dentists. Additionally, the successful candidate will educate patients in oral hygiene and dental care, including proper tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition, and the need for professional care.
Demonstrating commitment to the mission of promoting dental health, interacting positively with a diverse patient population, reading, writing, and maintaining patient records and related administrative documentation are essential skills required for this role.
Qualifications
* Successful completion of an accredited dental hygienist program.
* Current NJ State Registered Dental Hygienist license.
* Current CPR and radiation safety certification.
* Certification to administer local anesthesia is preferred.
